Istanbul extends both on the European and Asian sides of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world that is situated on two continents. There is one international airport on each continent; Ataturk Airport on the European side and Sabiha Gokcen Airport on the Asian side.
Istanbul Ataturk International Airport (IST) is the larger of two airports, situated in the Bakirkoy – Yesilkoy district on the European side, about 23 kilometers (15 miles) west from the city centre. Istanbul Ataturk International Airport takes pride in hundreds of planes taking off and landing on its runways every day.
Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SAW) is a fairly new airport located in the Pendik – Kurtkoy district on the Asian side, about 50 kilometres (31 miles) east of the European city center.
You can book a flight to both of the airports in Istanbul. Airport transfer to your hotel is available from both airports. Please do not forget to register for airport transfer before your arrival.
